123 CREATE

Taste Real Food joins forces with Bedford Creative Arts and Bedford Borough Ward Funding to launch 123 Create

Local Councillor ward funding has been invested in securing a building at 123 Midland Road, Bedford. The area is lively with a population of diverse cultures. Young people who have never had a base to organise social events, champion a job club and be involved in creative arts, music and food will be given an opportunity to direct, plan and determine their future.

Bedford Creative Arts will use the shop front of the property as a platform to attract young people into channelling their energy into the arts. The middle section of the building will be used as hub for local young people who are currently being sponsored by the councillors to qualify as youth volunteer leaders.

The back part of the building currently has a restaurant kitchen and will be managed by Taste Real Food Bedford to promote the cohesion of cultural foods and to link artisan producers into a Sensory Education Project for young people of the area and beyond. This exciting project will add to the success we are already achieving with lower school children across The Borough.

The event launch is this Saturday 21st January and is FREE!

The programme commences at 104 Midland Road in Bedford Creative Arts car park (entrance on Prebend Street) at 12pm with traditional Asian drumming and dancing. Taste Real Food will be warming up the proceedings with free portions of Vegetable Tagine and Couscous.

A procession will then move at 1.30pm to 123 Create (123 Midland Road) where the building will be formally opened and the Youth Group will be awarded with their certificates of qualification as youth leaders. Local community residents have cooked some tantalising snacks for the launch and this will be a unique opportunity to find out about the future creative art projects that will be based at 123 Create including the Infinite 29 project to promote health and well being. The event will close at 4pm.

We believe at Taste Real Food Bedford that young people are our future and we are encouraging everyone to take part, get involved and change our community for the better so see you there!
